What Is MIL-STD-810?
MIL-STD-810 is a United States defense standard, and MIL-STD is the acronym for “military standard”. It is often used to help achieve standardization objectives by the U.S. Department of Defense.
MIL-STD certified products are usually designed to survive in extreme environmental conditions. This process is usually referred to as environmental stress testing, compliance testing, or ruggedization, which means to “strengthen for better resistance to wear, stress, and abuse,” according to Merriam-Webster.
There are many generations of this military standard ranging from MIL-STD-810A to MIL-STD-810G. While many rugged phones remain to be MIL-STD-810E, Blackview BV series phones have already reached the standard of MIL-STD-810G.
MIL-STD-810G is a critical certification with which rugged phone manufacturers prove that their phones are truly durable. A rugged smartphone with MIL-STD-810G certification promises their buyers that it has gone through a series of 29 tests. These put the phone up against shock, heat, vibration, cold, humidity, and more.
Hence, in theory, it should be much more likely to withstand pressure, drops and other severe conditions. For people who work on construction sites, live in extreme environments or love extreme sports, they would probably prefer BV series ruggedized phones made by Blackview as they are all certified with MIL-STD-810G, making themselves strong enough to resist possible damage.
